What to expect when you bring home your second baby

Raising a baby is no walk in the park, raising two can seem downright impossible. If you already have baby no.2 on the way, relax. With a calm mind and a little help from those around you, we are pretty sure you can manage things.

What to expect when you bring home your second baby

Here are a few of the things that you should be expecting upon the arrival of the second baby:

1) Don’t aim for perfection!

All parents endeavor to be at least one thing – the perfect parent. Stop trying to be one, seriously. The sooner you accept the fact that you are being the best parent you can be will make things much easier, especially with the second baby on the way.

2) Sibling rivalry – the beginning!

Being the apple of Mom and Dad’s eye, your first child will find it difficult to adjust to the fact there is going to be a rival for your affections.  This will be made clear through crying, tantrums and other unruly behavior. Do your best to convince your little one that just because there is a new baby in your lives doesn’t mean you’re going to love him/her any less.

3) Kids - no two are alike

Whatever experience you might have gained from raising your first one, won’t necessarily apply to the second. No two kids are alike and the best you can hope to do is to adapt your parenting styles to meet their individual needs. If your first child is quiet then your second might be noisy or vice versa. There is no way to know so be prepared.

4) Keep time for yourself

Between raising two babies, there is a good chance that you and your partner might get pushed to the brink. We know it sounds difficult but try and get a little time to yourselves or you might end up forgetting why you got into this in the first place.
